Re: Election Question
Like I said yorick, would be nice if you had your own opinions, not this "ill read wiki, then post, then back it up with wiki im so clever attitude".
It gets tiresome. Like I said, you just can't tell whats you and whats viewed straight off a website anymore.

I'll state again, I wrote about the facts as I have learned from living in a Westminster system, and living in the USA and comparing the two. I wrote from personal experience, you ignored it, so I googles "state" and posted the first supporting definition I found. If you want to stick to this straw man attack by sticking to this weird "you got it from wiki" objection, be my guest. It just exhibits bad logic and poor sportsmanship. |

Re: Election Question
I thought about how to ask it for a while. I don't like word "religious" and I didn't want to say "Christian" for several reasons.
And I asked because Yorick brought up the abortion thing and other topics which would have "religious" implications have been danced around. I was thinking the "Christians" would go with McCain for those reasons. I do have trouble expressing myself in print.

Re: Election Question
Every group has shades of grey (or gray) when you try to define its members. I find myself in an uncomfortable position in many ways, and not alone.
I tend to be religious now, more than when I was younger. It ebbs and flows, I believe, and I just realized I don't know for sure which is more - an ebb or a flow I think flow is more, and I'm in that phase now. That's a group that the republicans appeal to - the religious conservatives. However, there are a number of gangplank issues where I disagree with the republican position. I'm pro-choice, although my own choice is life. I'm pro-stem cell research. I'm pro-gay marriage (or whatever phrase is used to recognize the difference between religious and civil marriages). I also disagree with the democratic position. I'm anti-handout. I truly believe in the "teach a man to fish" thing. I'm anti-big government. I'm pro-business... without business, nothing much happens. I'm sure I've got more things where I take positions different from the "party line". I guess I'm purple... and the shade varies, depending on the lighting. And all that said, I cast my vote for Obama.
