I would like to know if I should be using my Party AI and to what extent. I've been playing through some really tough battles lately and I never have it on because I'm skeptical of the AI's decisions. But there is so much going on in a six on six battle I miss some crucial segments. Having never really used it in a major tactics battle I don't know if this would help or hinder. If the big guns out there- Alson, Dundee, Rataxes, Butterfingers, SixofSpades, Weimer and others would let me know what you prefer I'd appreciate it.

Well... the default Ai script really suck, but sometime, When I have a melee/archer heavy party, I use agressive script for regular enemies, but I never use scripts for spellcasters.

Question Mark

Just a quick note from a 'little gun' (son of a gun? ): I never use AI. I prefer my intelligence to that of the computer. After all, you're playing the game, the computer isn't.

I always have the AI off, and tweak the auto-pause options to stop the action when desired so I can direct traffic. (pause when Enemy Sighted, and when Spell Cast at the very least, also when someone is Badly Wounded)

The action is stop-and-go, but there's no way I could keep things under control otherwise (bit more like PnP play, no?)

AI does sound fun, though if you want to sit back and see how everyone does on their own. I'd like to try futzing with it later.

You, my friend, are pc giant gun.

Mahlennacht- you reminded me of another point, the auto-pause could be better IMO with a selection for pause when a spell is disrupted or an item has been used.

Dont use AI with bard. It try to cast spells although there is no mention of it in the script. And the spells are casted even if a bad guy stands near him.
I tried some and most really sucks except the one when you use the range weapon until an ennemy comes to close.

I use AI scripts. I have Standard attacks on my fighters/ranged attackers so that they will attack the nearest enemy. Spellcasters are set to passive though so that thy will not engage in combat. I use the Standard script because when enemies go down, I want them to continue on the next one without me giving the command because im way to busy casting spells and such... And no I have never used AI for spellcasting. I think I can manage magic way more better than the computer can.

Oh and just a sidenote if you got Minsc and Aerie in your party. If Aerie is injured Minsc will run into the battle no matter how wounded he is and no matter how far away from the battle he is. I remember when I was fighting in(spoilers)

firkraags dungeon I had to lock him up inside a room while aerie cleared out the dungeon with magic. When I got to Firkraag himself. I had Aerie use a wand of frost to damag him, but eventually he would hit aerie with a dragons breath every now and then and she would be badly wounded. Minsc would charge firkraag with a speed greater then lightning and drop dead after a few seconds. This Kamikaze script that you cannot turn off is the most annoying thing in the game IMHO.

scripts for casters are never a good idea, unless it is the druid/cleric (cant remember which) that makes the char. walk up and heal other party members once they reach a certain HP.

I use aggressive for fighters, sometimes ranged for fighters who had missle weapons, and allways.. ranged for my archers

I tend to leave everybody on the Agressive script: If they see something, they attack it. I don't like the "Ranged" scripts--if I want Jan to Backstab somebody, I really hate it when he sneaks up behind them and shoots them with his Crossbow instead. Although it is annoying when I tell a character to cast something, and they attack instead. I wonder if there's an AI that tells the character to ignore the AI if the user has instructed them to cast a spell?

i think the closet your going to get to that is "Pause", "Turn off Characters AI", "Cast/backstab/whatever", "Turn AI back on"
