I have played this mod for about an hour.. I'm trying to figure out what party I want to take through the whole game.

There seems to be PLENTY of things to kill, so exp is not really a problem.
I normaly run 4 man groups, but I think I'm going to have to go with 6 or 8 with this mod.

Now I don't know much about the new magic system, other than a mage is like a bishop but cannot read spell books < am I right about that? >
And I don't know alot about the weapons with this new mod.

I enjoy making a super powerful party, and its hard to do if you don't know what mega weapons are out in the world.

So here is my part idea

2 rogue's, might turn them to fighters later
1 mage/bishop maybe later
1 ninja for throwning, I heard there are tons of throwing weapons
1 priest, though I might make it a lord < which do you think would be better? I read somewhere that the priest was alittle tougher than the lord now, but unsure>
And then either a bard or a gadgeteer,, still unsure about this one..

I really just want 2 main spell casters < mage and priest > cause its kinda hard to control 8 people and play kinda fast as your trying to pick out spells.

Is Myles now a gadgeteer? will NPC's follow you anywhere now?
As far as my ninja, i really don't plan on building his magic up at all,, is this a good call?

Also, would it be smart to have a ranger? is there tons of hidden items, i'd hate to miss something very powerful.

Sorry about all the questions and all. I just want to have a very powerful planned out party..

All advice is welcomed and I don't mind spoilers as far as what weapons to use or how to play a class

thanks so much, and thanks to DS for making a great new game

I started Deathstalkers Mod 3 last weekend, so I don't have all informations what you're looking for.

What I know is, that Myles indeed is a Gadgeteer. The "Standard-NPC" enter the same maps like in the original game. But there a new ones who follow you everywhere without moaning.

IMO there is no need for a ranger. A searching guy with high senses can find everything. ( I found all up to now. )

Don't forget that a mage can't use books, so changing the mage to a bishop after a few levels is a good thing.

I'm sure that every party can make it to the end ( it works with the original W8, Flamestrikes and the older mods of deathstalker )

My party is a party of seven :

1 Ninja
1 Lord
1 Mage / Bishop
1 Gadgeteer ( there are a lot of new gadgets )
1 Bard ( many, many new instruments )
1 Priest

1 Valkyrie ( NPC Qwerty, you meet her on the beach )

There are tons of new items and a lot of new recipes. F.e. you can uncurse special items with a high divinity character and a new book you'll find.

Another thing is that there are some difficult combats with strange new monster too.

Just started and am going pretty simple.
1 priest change to fighter at 10 or 11.
1 rogue
1 Ranger
1 Gadg.
1 Bard
1 Mage

I have all the bases covered. Love the toy soldiers. It still amazes me that Deathstarker took so much time out of his day to make such a complete mod. 2.1 was enjoyable and I am sure 3.0 will be even better.

I am trying to play this mod with one fighter and 2 NPC. One NPC will be a bishop and the other will be a non specialist caster such as Ranger,Samarai,Ninja,Valkyrie,or Lord (Not monk) Bishop training is very tough now that many spells have crossed spell books and can be cast by all, but does anone have advice on which of those 5 to go with and which NPC to use of the many that there are ?
Does that big temple in the South East wilderness have all that Lord gear in the undead basement in this Mod ?

I thought the lord gear was in Lanas Mod IIRC.

Wow had a hard time crossing the bridge with my party at level 6 even in lower monistary. I really did not have a great melee guy at this time and one of the creatures really made it hard. Eye for an Eye helped and lifesteal.

Finished the monistary and heading to Arnika. I was going to have my dwarf fighter cleric duel wield axe and mace but have changed him to duel wield Dwarven war axes. I have my own little dwarven beserker. The mage is great but am having a problem with spell points. Not reading books is cramping my spell points so I really have to be judicious.

IIRC the best way to train the bishop in this mod was to have Divinity 1st, Alchemy 2nd, and wizardry 3rd. If you keep them in that order it should work. I found starting as a priest and moveing to Alchemy helped. If you start as an Alchemist it is hard to get Divinity above Alchemy and them wiz takes over.

Last time I found 2 pairs of boots for my lords, which I didn't need. Now I have 3 and can't find any! It I cover that up with another mod, I wonder?

Nightwing, you should always save Alchemy for last, because all you have to do is mix.

That's probably true. There are only a few items in the game that require Alchemy to use and I think the highest is 25. So the only reason after that would be to mix higher potions.

Thanks Nightwing for that bishop training tip. Its crucial for. I am afraid i have messed up and have to start over because i thought killing the friendlies would make things faster which it did but then i He-li and Antone and miles wont have anything to do with me and when i got to Trynton i was forced to fight Anna and my other NPC's left the party for good LOL.
VI and RFS are the only ones i know i can rely on unless people here know of any orhers.

BTW it is Flamestrykes final mod yhat has the Lord outfit. Still my favourite up till now.
I have single fighter at level 42. Meeting level 50 serpents on ascension peak and killing them in 3 hits with that marvelous mace that you get from
the fire lord guarding the Staff of Ash.
