Isn't it sad that war is such a common topic, that we have a special board for it? I guess there is only one thing we can do...

Convince a starving man that all of his woes are all 'such-and-suches' fault and that by killing them he'll be better off, and you can motivate him to join the mob and fight for whatever little aggenda you have on your mind. People choose to go to war. Whether they consciously take notice of it or not. It's easy to get caught up in all the bullshit if it hits close enough to home.

Yes, it always does seem as if war is unavoidable. I mean some of today's computer games are horrific when you think about it. The Soldier of Fortune dualology, or the Red Faction dualology, hell even Baldur's Gate. All involve killing other human beings. The Getaway, Grand Theft Auto, there are tons. In fact, without these games, people would probably not even have a computer. I'm not saying I'm immune to this, I also love Baldur's Gate, or Armoured Core, or Red Faction 1. But when you think about what is involved, it can be quite shocking.
Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but it all leads to the same course of the amount of violence in the world, reflected in today's forms of entertainment. It is something we find fun. And war-related games some of us find enjoyable. |

I really wish politicians would back off the gaming industry; I mean, go veto some bills or something..

No offence mate, but this post confuses me.
Obviously everyone hates war, as they also hate death, and murder, and mass-genocide. Obviously every post is going to be favourable to "i hate war". But you have to be mature enough to take on board what is happening in the world, and deal with it. As Johhny says, get used to it. All this talk of war, isn't bothering me in the slightest. I wont worry about it until we go to war. Currently we arent. And even if we do, I'll only worry about it if I end up out there fighting, or missiles start hitting the ground over here. Sorry if this post is out of order, tis the last of the night and its 1am. Basically, what I'm saying, a thread for : who wants peace....is pretty pointless. It wont alter anything and will probably just stir raw feelings or an arguement. Night. [ 01-18-2003, 07:51 PM: Message edited by: Lavindathar ]
