Anyone over there that can give us some details first hand? have you seen the flooding? I am SO sad to see people losing their homes as well as all the great art (cities are artistic) being damaged by the flooding.
Man, the weather on this planet is REALLY getting messed up.. Hope everyone is doing okay over there, and hope the flooding subsides SOON!! [ 08-16-2002, 07:10 PM: Message edited by: Ziroc ]

Hmm, yeah its pretty bad. My brother is a bit worried. He lives in Budapest in Hungary and they think the river might burst there tomorrow. He lives in sight of the river . But he's counting himself lucky that he lives on the 3rd story.
My thought and prayers go out to all the people affected by this. [ 08-16-2002, 08:01 PM: Message edited by: Evil Al ]

Reminiscent of the recent flooding in Texas with the threat of dams breaking, etc.
It is a frightening experience to be in the general vicinity of an area that could be washed out even when you are on high and dry land like we are. Even worse to be among those who have to watch from a distance as their homes and belongings are lost, not to mention the lives taken by nature's violence. My thoughts and prayers as well are with everyone who has to endure the hardship of flooding and the damage it leaves in its wake. |

It's not just Europe. India and China are suffering, too. Probably more so than Europe.
Wonder how many more such things we'll have to go through before we learn our lesson and begin to conduct ourselves in environmentally more responsible ways... [ 08-16-2002, 09:14 PM: Message edited by: K T Ong ]

Too many, but sadly, that seems to be the way of things, they take time.

Yeh, I think I saw the flooding in India on TV the other day, the water was up to the roofs of apartment buildings, and they showed kids rowing around trying to get to safety. And so many have been killed and have lost their homes, my prayers to all those in danger.

I know. I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the news. It's so strange. Some areas of the world are so dry right now and others are flooding so terribly. I never imagined so many people could be pushed out of their homes all it once.

The weather is so messed up... even here in Vermont, one day it is scorching hot at 103 degrees, and the next day is is raining, and then the next day it is 60 degrees, and the day after that it is scorching hot again! I feel sorry for all the people that lost their homes or their families because of the floods. What really gets me is that some people in Europe blame the bad weather on Bush! That's kinda messed up.
