I know this topic has come up, but I'm having problems carrying this quest to fruition. Early on, someone came and told us Anomen's sister was dead and we had to return to his house. I have repeatedly tried to do this and his father refuses to talk to me. Anomen continues to complain that we haven't returned yet. Is there somewhere I need to go first, or someone I need to talk to in order to get the ball rolling? Thanks for your help.

Don't know if this would help, but the conversation between Anomen and his dad normally triggers when they see each other. Try having Anomen talk to his father instead of the protagonist.

Unfortunately, I've tried this and it didn't work. Hopefully someone else has has this problem and solved it as I like Anomen and don't want him to leave.

I checked with the official website and this evidently is a problem that the patch fixes. Thanks for your help.
