HELP !! Really weird problem

Has anyone else had this problem.

When some in my party die, their shield does not drop to the pile, it still shows as equipped even though the member is dead. When resurrected the member still has the shield in the slot but I am unable to equip it plus I am unable to buy another and equip that member with it.

The only thing I can think of that might help is un/re installing the game, or maybe install the latest patch and see if that helps...

I have NEVER heard of that problem before.

Like dragon slayer suggested: back up your saved games, uninstall, defrag your hard drive, reinstall using the latest patches and make sure they are installed in the right sequence.

By any chance have you used a character editor in your game at all???

Thanks. No sense in saving my backed up game as I was only at the Vale of Shadows. I downloaded a fresh copy of the patch, uninstalled the game, rebooted, reinstalled the game and the new copy of the patch. Have not died yet, am once again at the Vale of Shadows, so I don't know if the problem has been corrected.
