I installed Corel Draw and next time I tried to run Wiz it crashed immediatly. I unstalled and reinstalled but it didn't help. I also uninstalled Corel. I get some message that msvcp60.dll is linked to missing export msvcrt.dll:_lc_collate.cp and then the most illuminating comment that a device attached to the system is not functioning. Jeeze I love Bill Gates... NOT!

Has anyone seen this? I'm heading to tech support next.

Possible answer is to use one of those (flash) little programs like Clean sweep deluxe etcetera. Just check registry, see if problem Dll is listed and remove it. Then you can do a clean reinstall and reboot. Just a guess.

Thanks Rand, I was a bit more brute force but I got it. (I can't stand sitting and waiting when something is buggy, I hack while I wait.)

I figured it had to come in some way from the two files that were flagged on the error. I did a system search for both of them and saw that msvcrt.dll was both in the windows/system dir and also the dir of a number of apps. I guessed that the apps might have to talk to the one in the system dir. I suspected that Corel had replaced some file on my HD so I checked dates and found that the date on the msvcrt.dll in the system dir was from 1996 and the one on the Win 98 install disk was 1999. I went into DOS, (win was using the file so I couldn't change it in win)changed the name of the '96 dll, copied over the newer version, and then prayed to the computer gods as the machine rebooted. Sure enough, that seems to have been the prob. Nothing like a little blind man's bluff with your system files to make an evening more interesting.
