I dunno, if I see a post or a link or somesuch that I've seen before, I guess I usually do mention it, but I usually also comment on the thread as well, so it's not spam, nor insulting at all on my part.

I also know what it feels like to post a joke that has already been posted and I didn't know, can get frustrating because sometimes too many jokes are posted and it doesn't give much room for others to post anything not already posted.. But I get over it and keep trying, when I find a topic that is different, I post it, sometimes if I feel spammy, I spam, but it is a rare thing (i.e., every 4 or 5 months). Either way, it's just the net, uncontrollable, chaotic at times, what can you do?

I think there's a difference between witty one liners and useless negative comments - 'that's been posted before...' is not my idea of a witty comment. I think if you post something that you find funny and all people feel they can contribute is 'I've seen it before' then they shouldn't bother contributing at all. Of course, if you make it your business to primarily post 'internet jokes' then you are somewhat asking for it

Uh, I just have to ask, was the word that Larry asterisked out in Alex's post the same one that appears in Kathen's quoting of it? Is that considered an offensive word? I know I have referred to people as something like that (the shortened version) but didn't realise it was a 'cuss' word (how I hate the term cuss [img]graemlins/idontagreeatall.gif[/img] ).

It's the human impulse that makes us say the obvious: "This has been posted before" or "this is an old joke." I've closely looked at a lot of jokes threads, and at least one person says it's old, it be nothing new or shocking, but it doesn't really bother me either.

But if you want to get technical, of course saying "haha, that's funny, LOL, great!" really isn't contributing to a thread either, just shortened spam really [img]tongue.gif[/img]
