Just wondering, I'm on my third time through the game and still don't know how to open them.

Those doors can only be opened (a) if you are an arcane spellcaster, and (b) have talked to the mage merchant in Neverwinter and asked to join the mage guild.
There are four buildings, each one containing a small obstacle to overcome and an item to obtain. Once you have all four items, go back to neverwinter and the final test begins. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I know that a mage can get the quest for sure. I would imagine that a sorceror can as well, but since I haven't played a sorceror (or a bard for that matter) I can;t verify that the the quest activates for a sorceror OR a bard.
