The burning flames sweep across her body in a wave of heat. She finally regains control of her hands as she clenches her fist in an effort to steady herself. As the rhythm of her heartbeat becomes more irregular, her knees weaken and she buckles in her steps. Driven by an inexplainable force, her arms rise and lock over his neck...

Not ever wanting to let go of Mistral, for fear of losing her again, Larry reluctantly pulls away, still holding her in his arms.

~Her foot twitches in a slight aggrivation as she hastily retorts.~ "Well... ER... There's Larry and Mistral and Kaz... And that's all!" ~Her blue eyes dart nervously to his.~

~A smirk crosses his face, and his hand extends to her cheek, giving her a pitying look.~ "You never were very good at lying." ~He smiles comfortingly, his gaze turning slightly more serious.~ "Now tell me what you are avoiding Chani."

~She exhales jaggedly, her eyes meeting pleadingly with his. She brushes his hand away, a cold tear forming at the corner of her eye.~ "I hide nothing Maverick. 'Tis an insult you doubt my instilled trust."

~He gives an apologetic yet still flamingly curious look.~ "Chani, I've known you since birth. You are hiding something from me and I intend to find out." ~His eyes pierce hers stubbornly.~

~She sniffs, her pride obviously battered.~ "Another has left me with a shattered heart. I give no more." ~The frustrated tear threatens as she unsuccessfully attempts to blink it back.~

~He grabs a leather pack at his foot, swinging it on his back and putting his arm around her shoulder.~ "I need no more... Accept my eternal apologies for provoking a sleeping beast." ~He brushes the tear from her cheek with his spare hand, turning her head towards his.~ "And take my solemn swear I'll take the head of any fool who seeks to do you harm." ~He kisses the top of her head gently at the scalp, and begins to move forward.~ "I know a way straight through to Athkatla. Perhaps we will find your friends there."

~In her dispare she is unable to do anything but cling to eternity's friend, hobbling at his side unsteadily. Her eyes dart nervously, silently thinking to herself. O' Deiter... Where have you gone this time?~
