I dont really care how old ppl are here on the board, but if it was irl i would probably consider it.
But i think i'd become a good friend to older ppl, if we have the same personality and so on, and like the same stuff.

BTW how old are you ppl here?

Of course i don't base my friendships here on age. I don't do that in real life either, and I have some friends that are 20 years older or a few years younger. To be honest, Aelia's joke holds some truth for me...if someone consistently makes a mess of their spelling (and I don't mean simple typos or 'cos' instead of 'because' and 'u' instead of 'you', I'm talking about the really garbled, illegible unintelligible gibberish) I will hold them in less regard and have less patience with their posts. :embarrassed: Call me elitist but I simply can't be bothered to read through posts like that. And don't get me wrong, I don't mean normal typos, because everybody makes them on occasion, me certainly included, and I certainly have no problems whatsoever with any mistakes that non-native speakers make, I mean Killer-style posts (anybody remember him?) that really annoy the hell out of me
In addition, to answer your question:
While I don't even consider people's age when deciding who I like here, it goes without saying that there needs to be some sort of connection, something in common that makes me like the person. There are certain topics I enjoy talking about, and usually, it is easier to befriend someone who shares your tastes or interests. But I wouldn't know if those conditions are met soonest with someone your own age... actually I don't think that is the case at all.

Phew, I'm off the hook. I don't remember the last time I spelled "u" as "you" or "cos" as "because" on a BB post.

To answer the question: Unfortunately, however much I try not to let it effect me, I do take people's age into account. I usually have no problems with people being older than me and most of my friends are older than me, but...
I tend to change my attitude if I find out someone is much younger than me on here. This is because someone much younger than me would still be a kid since I am not that old myself, but not a minor. Now don't get me wrong. I tend to look at how much I've learnt over the last few years and how much my friends who are my age have learned and matured and I think: "this younger person has all that ahead of him/her therefore s(he) cannot possibly be as mature or experienced yet, so I will of course respect them as a person, but I will not place as much weight on their opinion as say, an older person's opinion, simply because of the lack or "life experience and learning". Of course, this is not always valid, but mostly it is. I might get some hate for saying this, but at least I'm honest. Also, I have no doubt some 25+ year olds feel this about people my age.

I can say I do not look down on people younger than me! *listens to whispers* Oh, right... cuz there is noone younger than me by more than a year! (13 here)

But I enjoy talking with people of all ages, older, younger, whatever. I like the Internet becuz it gives you a chance to meet people very different from you and become good friends regardless of age, etc.

My 2 cents.

hmm, i really cant bias what someone says against their age, i mean, im one of the youngest people here! and of course, i rather enjoy talking to the younger members of this board, so its not really rational to believe that i bias anything against anyone due to age...

Hmm I seem to always when typing put "cos" or "u" or even "4"
Has taken me a while to get out of the habit of doing a lot lot more
But this comes from message sending in a past career where it was all shortened and abbreviated for speed of transmissions.
If that implys something or discourages someone then ugh stuff them

The internet is far from serious literature or formal letters I think its all used for ease of typing and thats all.

I never knew anyone had an age problem....wierd
The fact someone thought to bring up this topic suggests there is a major issue here
Ive not seen this anywhere else though so perhaps its something with some of you lot or maybe the RPG world--god knows
You act like a kid I treat you like one don't care what your birth certificate might say.....

I know where you are coming from with the bad spelling and garbled sentences of native English speakers! I find it difficult as well! However, I wonder if they may be dyslexic and are doing their best?
