...My PnP virginity that is.
I have recently decided to take up PnP gaming. I have often wanted to get into the original Dungeons & Dragons gaming that inspired such games as NWN and BG but never really did anything about it. So, I have purchased all three of the 3.5 Edition Rule Books (PH, DMG and MM) and a box game to start my journey. I must admit it isn’t all that easy to grasp but I seem to be getting the hang of it. Its just sticking with it. Alas, the players are few and far between. Only my girlfriend and myself are players, and well, she isn’t all that into D&D. It would be cool to gather a group of Hardcore D&D fans to start a game and such, but I know of no such people. If there are any D&D fans that live in or around Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England then that would be great and it would be cool to start a game. Ah dear. So are there any fans of the game that can give me any advice, or offer up any pearls of wisdom? Thanks alot --Kestrel--

Yeah girlfriends can help with losing virginity...when you asked her to play PnP, did you use the same kind of line as for the topic title? But if she's a "player" like you say, how can you be sure she's not helping other male PnP beginner players with the same problem?

LOL @ Vaskez!
But on a serious note: Have you tried some local comic shops or card collector shops? Even some board game stores might have information. We have several shops as described above that have gotten people together for games. If no one in your area currently does this, ask the shop owners if you can put up a flyer for starting up some PnP gaming. Many shop owners here (especially the comic shops) encourage the playing and will even set aside a table or two for gaming in store in hopes that you will then buy from them (whether it be dice or figures or game sets or books, etc.). Let's get this straight... You're taking up one of the nerdiest activities known to Man and, lacking suitably nerdy companions with whom to engage in said activities, you've turned to the internet for help.
Uh...maybe you should change the title of this thread to "Keeping my Virginity"? (More) seriously, though, you can always post a "looking for a DnD group" message in areas where nerds are known to gather--comic book shops, book stores, schools, etc. And I'd suggest using a new email account as contact information, rather than a phone number, for privacy's sake. (Just for the record, I played my first PnP about 15 years ago, this month)
