I'm presently reading "Beyond Opinion - Living the Faith We Defend". It has a few contributing authors with Ravi Zacharias as the General editor. A good read for those interested in Christian appologetics.

I was wondering if anybody could give me some ideas for some good fantasy novels. I haven't got enough of them and I've read most of the fantasy in my local library. Anybody have ideas?

Tad Williams is a great author with the likes of Otherland and The Dragonbone Chair. Terry Brooks isn't bad, but I've read better. Then there's Orson Scott Card who's Ender Saga I enjoyed.

If you're looking for something with a simpler feel, you could go with Margaret Weis' Darksword Trilogy. Or, Ursula K. Le Guin's Wizard of Earthsea.

Those are the one's I've personally read. Maybe if you post some of the books you've read some other members could narrow down to something you'll more likely enjoy.

I've read Derek Landy, Wilbur Smith, Star Trek stuff, Cornelia Funke, Christopher Paolini, can't remember the rest. But anything medieval or fantasy-filled (especially with dragons).
And please, NOBODY tell me to read Twilight. I won't do it.

Oh god no, don't read it. And unless you want to experience the kind of pain a vampire does when in the sun, don't see the movie either.

Then I definately recommend Tad Williams.

As I've stated I've read his Otherland Saga, 4 books set in the conceivably not too distant future. I want to say I've heard it described as a cyber-punk type of setting. Think something similar to Ghost in the Shell but a little less tech.

Also, I've read "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" which is broken into three books (The Dragonbone Chair, Stone of Farewell, and To Green Angel Tower) They don't really center around dragons, but it is that kind of setting.

Started reading a fantasy book by David Gemmell called Echoes of the Great Song. I think it is part of a series and so far it is going well.

Funny, as I was reading through the last 6 or so posts, I was thinking of recommending David Gemmell. I have 3-4 of his books and I like all of them!
I was actually thinking yesterday, that I should buy another one. I bought 4 fantasy-type books for $10 at Chapters a few months ago, but I don't really like any of them.

My wife bought me a Terry Goodkind novel at the library book sale this weekend. I have not started reading it yet, but I do like watching the Legend of the Seeker on TV.She actually did not know it was the same author, when she bought it.

Aaaah - David Gemmell.

A bit like chilli chocolate. OK in small doses, but you'll quickly get sick of it. Beware of getting hooked - there are about a zillion books in the series. The Mord-Sith are quite cute though

For some good fun, I'd recommend just about anything by Simon R Green. The Deathstalker series and Shadows Fall come to mind.

As for dragons, not long finished "The Adamantine Palace" by Stephen Deas. It's got dragons

*edit* see comment below. D'oh - Goodkind for Mord-Sith, Gemmel for hackety/slashety fun.

The Mord-Sith?

Arn't they from Terry Goodkind's: Legend of the Seeker?

The blonde one is really hot though; specially in that red leather outfit! The one from last weeks show could have been better though.
