Default Garfield comic strip

OK, maybe one of you can help me here.

I'm trying to find one comic strip of Garfield. He finds Odie stealing his food, he kicks him "into next week", then several strips later Odie lands on him.

It's mentioned on wikipedia

He keeps making me fall into my food,” with the result of Garfield falling into his food by himself. Soon after, Garfield is lying in his bed with a “nagging feeling that I forgot something,” with Odie landing on Garfield in the next panel.
So can anyone tell me the date of this one?

All Garfield comic strips can be viewd on the official site here
http://www.garfield.com/comics/comics_archives.html

Or in a much easier format here
http://ivanov.in/garfield/

If you remember the approximate time this one appeared or anything else that might help me do let me know.

Thanks.

I remember that specific comic. I'm not sure if the colors of the books vary, but the one I had it in either had a completely silver cover or a purple cover (I'm leaning toward the former). I think I had that book about 10-11 years ago, so it's at least that old...as a matter of fact, that book should still be lying around somewhere...

Hey, Lord if you could find it I'd be very grateful. Meanwhile thanks for the help. I'll try to look in the 1990s

I remember that one too. It was in one of the Garfield collection books I had. I think it was within the first 2-3 years of the comic (1st or 2nd collection maybe?). It was definitely a black and white comic.

I'll see if I've still got the book laying around when I get home.

It's not in the books I still have.

Definitely look toward the beginning of the comic. This particular scene probably took place fairly soon after Odie was introduced. I can remember parts of it in my head, and it was definitely the earlier Garfield (as his look evolved quite a bit in the early years).

Sorry I can't pin it down better than that.

Slightly off topic, but if you never have, check out http://garfieldminusgarfield.tumblr.com/. Best webcomic out there. You remove all the characters except Jon, and Garfield becomes a brilliant story of manic depression and schizophrenia.
