What programs can be used to edit and play the wav files that are in Baldur's Gate? I see in the readme file that they are 16bit mono 22khz wav files. I have also seen on this forum that they are 16khz. I have tried several audio programs using both formats to play and none have worked.

Could anyone tell me what programs work with the file formats used in this game?

Eternally Grateful,

Cold Stone

No, it dosent read Bg2 wavs. At least the version that comes with win98 dosent.

try www.teambg.com, they have editing tools for all aspects of teh infinity engine, im sure they'll have something.

I've tried the sound recorder in Win98 but it does not work. So far of all the programs I have tried, none have worked.

What version of Windows and Sound Recorder are you using? If it is simply the version that I am using, I can change to the other.

I searched on www.teambg.com as well as many other BG sites but have not had any luck in determining what applications are being used to create and edit these files.

If you have any more ideas, please let me know.

Thank You,

Cold Stone

how djg got sound recorder to play the sounds is beyond me, unless he's just talking about the 90 or so player character voices and not the bajillion other sound files.

assuming you have winbiff or near infinity to extract the wavs, you need a little program called acm2wav which converts the bioware wavs to windows standard wavs. teambg used to carry it but bioware made them yank it. i found a copy on some russian hack site. do a search and you might get lucky.
