Panic!!
Aaah! I move out of my house tommorrow morning. Then drive three hours and set up in a small room in Portsmouth for my first year at uni. Just finished all my packing.
Panic time.

Anyway, good luck with your new room: I remembered when I moved to my first apartment. I wouldn't call it a dramatic event, though, so no panic or anything.

Panic??? why on Earth would you Panic! this is the awesomest thing ever! Now you can live on a diet of 2 minute noodles and stale bread (and mayhaps, teabags...)! No longer will you look at your watch and think "9 am...still a bit early for my first drink", you will learn that beer is so much more than just breakfast, and that you can in fact go for 3 months (or however long it will be between trips home) without washing your clothes. You will understand the frustrating joy of spending huge sums of money on textbooks which are neither interesting or relevant.
Ah good times. I miss them a lot. All the best DS!

Good luck and try to relax.. it's a LOT of fun doing the new school stuff and you'll have plenty of company there. Lots of people who are just as new to it as you are! Enjoy yourself a bit!

Congrats on the move on out, DS! It's always an exciting time!
I moved into my first dorm room in a Chevy Chevette.... moved out four months later in a 15-passenger van. One side effect that may not apply to you, DS... for the first time *ever*, I actually cared about making my bed and having the room look clean. Perhaps that's just a guy thing, but it was noticeable. Didn't have any real impact back home, though...
