I just finished the game (no applause please).

I wanted to start over with a single character and try to make it through that way. Does anyone have ideas as to the perfect profession progression (hey I'm a poet!)? Thanks.

Congratulations!!

Hooboy, that's the topic of several postings here. I argue that one should start with Wizard first so as to get Stone magic, but others disagree with me on this. Starting with Priest first is a possibility, then ascending to Warlock to get the Moon and Fiend spells as well. Warrior is definitely the hardest one, as you have to take on the Amazoni Mantraps without any Storm Spells. Rogue you can ascend to Bard soon on (in the Serpent Temple) and have access to the Moon spells that way, then switch to Warlock or some other combination.

My recommendation:

Wizard -> Warlock -> Bard -> Paladin -> Samurai (and this gives you all spell groups plus the ability to pick locks and pockets); then decide from there if you want any of the 3 elites at the end (Assassin, ZenMaster, Valkyrie)

Other recommendations:

Priest -> Warlock -> Paladin -> Samurai (gives you all spell groups except Stone, so at the end of the game, switch to either ZenMaster or Valkyrie if female).

Rogue -> Bard -> Ninja -> Paladin -> Samurai -> Assassin (all spell groups except Stone)

Warrior -> Barbarian -> Bard (and get Moon Magic up as fast as you can to get Icestorm!) -> Ranger -> Paladin -> Samurai ->Assassin (then wherever you want to go from there).

My character went like this.

Warrior - Barbararian - Paladin - Ranger - Ninga - Samarai - Bard - Assassin - Zenmaster

I had only a little problem with the Mantraps. You just have to remember to take them on only two at a time.
