The monk would be good, too.

I think the Barbarian was good, I played as a Sorcerer so I needed someone who could take care of me on the lower levels. He rushed of sometimes to kill some people I didn't want to be killed:p, but that's nwn.

Linu the *clumsy* cleric LMAO! I've only tried her and Tomi so far though.

Try them all, particularly before you leave neverwinter chapter 1. I began using the Monk and the cleric in Chapter 2 and they just won't talk to my character about themselves. Heres my analysis of all but the sorcerer.

Tomi: for characters other than rogue or thief. Great at removing traps, disarming chests, and the odd quick backstab against a big target. Eventually you get to apoint where you don't need him as much.

Liu: For characters other then Paladi and cleric. Go for reinforcing your character in fights and healing after. Otherwise, limited fighter you want to keep in the rear. Not bad against undead.

Red Tiger: For Characters other then paladin, fighter, or strong rangers, great for a rogue cleric sorcerer or wizard. Shear power, great against Orcs, gobs, etc. So-So against undead.

The Bard: Like Liu, good for characters other then paladin and ranger. Some healing, more special reinforcement. Tends to rush forward like Liu and get hurt, so-so against big monsters.

The Monk (Grim): good strong fighter (stronger than Red Tiger), good support for most weaker character types. His use of his bare hands is a limiting factor against most living creatures. Against Undead however look out. Took him in lich tomb and he practically got them all by himself.

My view is keep the stone of recall close and be willing to use it to swap Henchmen to tailor your team for the situation. Always work towards the henchmens strengths. You don't have to leave a dungeon with the henchman you entered with.

I would think, for a rogue, you'd want access to some kind of magic. So the bard would be good, but since you've already got rogue skills it would be kind of redundant. Which leaves you the cleric, but that means you had better be a little bit buffed for melee situations since she has a tendency to get hurt.

Actually, in the OC, magic is a nice luxury, but not necessary (especially with all of the potions out there). The bad part is how the henchmen use magic (unless you download the hackpak that allows you to speak to them to control their spellcasting). They fire it off like they have unlimited casting, and run right into the middle of combat to heal you. The best success I have had is by playing the spellcaster myself, and adding either Daelen, Tomi, or Grimgnaw (until I added the hackpak, then it worked out better having the spellcasters as henchmen).

I tried Tomi at first chapter and after that I changed him to Linu. She is very good against undead. However, some strong fighter might be better because she dies too easily against prime monsters and my wizard can already cast spells.

I believe the best henceman depends of the character you are playing. Fighter henceman for spellcaster character and vice versa.
