OK I am used to playing BG so this 3rd edition rules is new to me. I have both expansions but none of the dl expansions. I was thinking of making a rogue/ninja.(did some reading here on the forums)
What I want to know is what are some good base stats to start from? I want to use a katana and stars and maybe another weapon maybe not. Is this ok to start out with? 18 str 10 dex 14 con 8 wis 12 int 8 chr |

Lower strength and add to dexterity. What exact classes do you intend to take?

I'd say lower the str to maybe 16, bump the dex up to 14, and raise int a bit, and go with rogue/assassin.

Ok thanks I will, Thanks all. Yes I was gonna go Rogue/Assassin can I get the weapon Katana with this build?

You'll have to take the exotic weapon feat first, but yes.
