Other NZ icons - sheep, kiwi, sheep, beautiful scenery, sheep, Maoris, sheep, wool, silver fern thingie, sheep, kiwifruit, sheep... I've been there twice, once on my honeymoon. It really is a scenic place, especially South Island. North Island is more... pastoral. Wonderful slow pace of life, friendly people, sheep. Places I have visited in NZ: Auckland Wellington Christchurch (went punting on the Avon River) Queenstown Milford Sound (absolutely awesome) Whakarewarewa & thermal geysers (the hangi was a hoot) Waitomo to see the glow worm cave. 90 mile beach & Cape Reinga Dunedin Lake Tekapo (the lake is a really brilliant blue in colour. I wonder why - copper in the water?) Te Anau Like I said, a beautiful country (& sheep).

Your the best at things to do with sheep... The brits are best at making their voices go all funny... The americans are the best at being stuck up (with Britain coming a close second...) marsians are the best at being marsians... So, you see, were only the best at everything worthwhile |

I must admit my knowledge of it is limited to "they once were warriors" and a couple other movies. This probally gives me as much insite as four guys my friends and i met on the streets of albany at four am by chance, they were from australia and had been robbed of 2 of 4 of thier backpacks and shoes.A wilder more rowdey bunch I have never met.We found them a place to crash for the night, but i was amazed that they had expected many people running around in cowboy hats and boots and everyone carring guns and knives.Admittedly they found some of the latter,But I belive in any big city there are places nobody should just be wondering around in after hours. From my limited knowledge of it I only hope that the people in general are as spritly and family orintated as I saw in the movies because I belive these to be admirable traits.

So we're infamous now are we?
And as for the Haka - that's a maori thing, not a NZ thing. In fact the tribe that "owns" it has been trying for years now to get it copyrighted so that they can charge the NZRFU to use it [ 04-05-2002, 05:26 AM: Message edited by: Downunda ]

New Zealand. Isn't that the place that Australia is just off the coast of?
