Thanks

Kensai/Mage is an excellent dual. Dual at lvl 9 for SoA or 13 for ToB. Those are good choices, but it's up to you...

Is that Kensia up to lvl 9, then duel to mage. What weapons can I use with that?

I believe that's what he means. You can use any weapons legal for a kensai after you get your first class' abilities back.

Although kensai/mage is an obvious choice, there are several other interesting combinations that you can consider.

1. Berserker/mage - some consider this to be as good if not better than the kensai/mage.

2. Kensai/thief - does awesome backstabs.

3. Swashbuckler/fighter - has a few less hit points, but in exchange ends up with AC and THACO bonuses that make him a better fighter.

4. Totemic Druid/fighter - ditto on the hit points, but has access to one of the best fighter buffs available, Ironskins, while at the same time can cast spells in heavy armor. Can also summon some pretty nice allies.

.......and the list goes on........

How can a kensai/thief get better backstab than sat and assasin?. Also what lvl would a Kensai/Mage be able to reach in each class if I dueled to mage at lvl 9?.

An Assassin does less base damage which is multiplied *7. The Kensai/Thief does more base damage but is multiplied by *5. The Assassin also has to roll for damage, the kensai (using his kai ability) WILL do maximum damage.

Don't forget Berserker->Cleric, Stalker->Cleric, Swashbuckler->Mage, and Assassin->Fighter.

You don't get to go up anymore in kensai, just mage. How far depends on what you have installed, or, in other words, what the XP cap is.

Lord Lothar provided an excellent answer to the first part of your question, about the kensai/thief, but let me add that the kensai gets to hit more times per round than the thief/assassin, and may get in more backstab blows before he turns visible.

Another interesting combination, although I haven't tried it out yet, is the Swashbuckler->Cleric. Basically, you'd have someone only slighter weaker in combat than a fighter, who could buff himself up to kick some serious tail, and who also had stealth/trap setting capabilities. Try using the cheesy trick I detail here:

http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...c;f=2;t=017832

and you'll have him dual wielding and specializing in his favorite hammer/mace/flail in no time!
