Punter!

Ricky Ponting has today been named Australia's new one-day international captain, with Adam Gilchrist his deputy. I think it's a great decision, although I would have liked to see Warnie get his chance, if they're going to have a shake-up they need fresh blood, and I think Punter will do a great job . Now all that's left is to drop Junior .

As much as I hate to say it, Ponting will make a good captain for Australia.

Oh you horrible horrible woman
If Warnie wants to become a captain first he needs to get rid of those extra chins, tone down that ego a LOT and then practice more at bowling rather than practicing feeling proud of himself.

Azzy? You can't be serious! That's downright un-Australian . Warnie's a national treasure .

Though I really don't like what he's doing with his hair lately

I have always despised the man ever since he got the hat trick years ago and started getting a VERY inflated self image. As a bowler and all round guy I would put Glen in front of him any day.
And im a kiwi so it dont matter if its unaustralian

I agree with Azure, Warne needs to get back to playing cricket if he wants to be captain.

- spoken like a country desperately wishing they had the world's best leg spiner playing for them. They can't help in Aelia, it's in the blood so we shouldn't hold it against them .

Back on topic, Warnie has his image problem, but in terms of a captain I don't think they could have done better. The short stint that he had a year or two ago bought back some of his better bowling. Some people lose form whem weighed down with captaincy - Warnie thrives on it.

I agree, Whiney's recent form has been as consistent as an ice-cream on top of Uluru!

He would be better spending some time in a Calcutta nightclub!
