Serpent Temple

I cannot find the wand in the temple (I know it's here somewhere). I have the wizard guild quest and bard quest to resolve. There's a locked gate between the two water rooms that I cannot open. And, I have all these monkey idols (and one snake one). Help! (Sorry for sounding a bit like an idiot. Peg me all you wish.)

I'm just at that point now! The wand is in a room which you get by going up the elevator in the library. It's actually part of the library that goes up & down. Take it up, walk down the hall and the wand is on a shelf. There is a chest in there too.
P.S. Make sure you save before entering the mouth of the serpant. I fell down a pit when I flipped the lever in there and now I'm stuck! Be careful.

Have you been to the Library yet? If not, it's north of the big snake door/brazier. Put the 4 monkeys in the 4 niches that make an X on the floor. A platform elevator starts up that will rise to the wizard's study - the wand is there. The snake figurine goes in the center niche...

Access to the library confused for some for some time so now I still remember it. IN the room with the Snake head door and the brazier (something is needed) there are tow exits blocked by grated doors. There are two levers in this room to open the two grates, they just aren't next to the doors. As I recall the levers are difficult to see but they are both located on the wall section which is between the two entrances to the room. One path leads to the library and I think the other path leads to the dungeon or prison area.

In the library you can activate a secret room to get a book which is needed to continue through the inner temple.
