I always max my con so that I start with 91 in HP. Someone said that they had 76 in HP. Thats on Core rules.

Hmmm. Never heard of the PC 10% HP bonus.
Level 7 Fighter (7D10 hit dice), 18 con (Human, +4 HP/HD) = 14 * 7 = 98HP. Level 7 Fighter (7D10 hit dice), 17 con (Elf, +3 HP/HD) = 13 * 7 = 91HP. Level 7 Fighter (7D10 hit dice), 19 con (Half-Orc, Dwarf, +5 HP/HD) = 15 * 7 = 105HP. Level 7 Barbarian (7D12 hit dice), 19 con (Half-Orc, Dwarf, +5 HP/HD) = 17 * 7 = 119HP. Find Familiar spell grants a HP bonus equal to half your familiar's total hit points (usually +12, for a 24HP familiar, and I think they all have 24HP). Of non-Mage classes, only Beastmasters can legally get this bonus. (Xen, you naughty boy, did you use the potion-swap exploit?) Not sure how you could get 101HP on Core rules. An Elven Beastmaster with 17 con on core rules would have 103HP after casting Find Familiar... that's the closest I can come up with that would work on Core Rules. And you'd still start with 91HP; you don't get that bonus till you actually summon your familiar.

thx Klutz for that math exmaple.
as you can see a halforc barb gets +12 HP ... one more lvlup without CON as i said and he has 131. same for elven warrior ... 91 + 10 = 101 Jim : 108 is 7*10+28 +10.

I've always assumed it's +10% because that's basically what it is provided you maximise your CON score (which I always do): Barbarian, 19 CON = 131 starting HP, (should be 119, 119*1.1 =~ 131 HP) Fighter, 18 CON = 108 starting HP, (should be 98, 98*1.1 =~ 108 HP) Thief, 16 CON = 70 starting HP, (should be 64, 64 *1.1 =~ 70 HP) Mage, 16 CON = 46 starting HP, (should be 42, 42*1.1 =~ 46 HP) However, as soon as I started lowering the CON, it became apparent that the HP boost was not 10%, but is as Bloodtitan correctly states, a full Dx of the class, without CON bonus (so +12 for barbarian, +10 for warrior, +8 for priest, +6 for rogue and +4 for mage). Sorted! Well spotted BT. [ 07-30-2003, 11:59 AM: Message edited by: Jim ] |
