I've had a beard since 1983, and haven't ever shaved it off, despite familial pressure for 24 years. No plans to, either. If a beard is properly maintained there should be no problems with hygiene.

I shave everytime the beard or moustache becomes visibly clear. Nobody around my area allows me to grow them.

Haha, really should have been a poll.
My boyfriend has a beard half the time. He has to shave it off for school. It's nice and soft. Plus, as a general rule (not always, but more often) I find men with facial hair more attractive.
