Re: Silver Blades
Okay, everyone (or more exactly, anyone that cares). I'm doing a sequel to Secret of the Silver Blades. It's going to be called "Legacy of the Silver Blades" and will feature some familiar settings and maybe even a face or two. It will also contain a lot of new areas and some re-interpretations of the spaces in the original games. (This will make more sense as I reveal the story.)

Re: Silver Blades
I had finished the city a while ago, but since I decided to do a sequel, I've decided to re-do the city. The new story will take place a bit after the original, so the town had to grow a little bit.
I'll try and do the first screenshot, just as soon as I make a door to go with my new walls. (Right now, there are just open archways...) |

Re: Silver Blades
I've been looking into the whole 1e vs 2e thing quite a bit lately, and I'm going to do what any reasonable person would do - use what I want without any explanation or reason.
Fore example, I may take the size and abilities of a 1e creature, but use it's 2e name and experience points. The power of the DM is mighty indeed... |

Re: Silver Blades
Didn't the 1st edition have a bonus to the experience based upon hit points? like a gold dragon had, say 1100 xp AND +6 xp per Hp???
I seem to remember something like this... but I haven't gotten into the old books lately to see. SilentThief

Re: Silver Blades
It has the bonus for some creatures. I've only been looking at the devils, so this may not hold up for all, but it seems that unique creatures have a set amount of XP associated with them, and creatures with HD have the scale amount of XP associated with them. (Which makes sense to me.)

Re: Silver Blades
In 1e, each creature had a base XP value, plus extra XP/hp. In 2e, this was simplified and just cut out (so you could fight and kill and troll with 1 hp/HD and still get a nice XP prize). I remember the Gold Box games also gave you more XP as you made the game level harder...
(Also, something I call "XP Inflation" happened as well, where for some reason a LOT of monsters have around double the XP value as they did in 1e (including the average XP/hp).)

Re: Silver Blades
The great thing about AD&D, at least from the DM/designer's point of view, is you can use the official works as only a guideline and then do something else.

Re: Silver Blades
Yeah But I don't like some of the directions that 2e and 3e took the game in... (I also don't agree with some of the Oriental Adventures stuff - 1e AND 3e.)
