Gems and Equipment

Just a simple question, in BGII is it possible to insert gems into your equipment? For example in other games (Diablo II) it is possible to improve weapons, shields etc. by adding gems. Or are gems simply there to be sold to make money?

If it is possible to insert gems, how is this done?

no. u cannot socket gems into items.gems in bg2 are just for making money when sold, and some gems are special.

It isn't possible AFAIK to insert gems into your weapons, but you can improve a certain mace with some expensive metal if you give it to the right person...

In ToB, and with the Weimer Item Upgrade MOD, you can get certain gems forged into certain items. But you can't just insert any yourself.

I think a lot of D1 and D2 players are hanging around Ironworks, waiting for 1.10 to hurry up and get here. I got hypnotized by the hype and stopped playing D2 about 4 months ago, thinking the patch was right around the corner. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Anyway, I wish there was a MOD out there that could insert gems into minor-enchanted items, or a way to enhance things like ioun stones with gems. (I'm betting the people wondering why I don't try modding these things myself have never seen me try HTML. [img]tongue.gif[/img] )

Any merchant will buy any type of gem in any quantity..as many as you can hold on six people + gem bags they'll buy em up like they goin outta style :/
