In Remembrance

They shall not grow old,
As we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.

Today is armistice day, the day on which British and Commonwealth countries stop to remember the sacrifice of those who died in the First and Second World Wars and later conflicts. The importance of this day seems to be all too clear with the continuing deaths of servicemen accross the globe.

Remembrance Day here in Canada.

I held my moment of silence all by myself as I stood here in a room defended by those who believe my rights are worth dying for even if they've never met me. The Canadian Armed Forces. I was surprised and actually quite touched in a way that the channel I was watching (YTV) held a moment of silence before starting their 11:00am program (Avatar: The Last Airbender). I thought that was a moment of true class for them. Sure, they are a network mainly for kids, but it was something every Canadian could and should appreciate.

Never heard a football stadium so quiet...

Prior to kickoff a one minute silence was held, and much to my delight every fan kept quiet.

The last time there was a silence (for 9/11 I think?) the away fans started cheering...disgusting.

Lest we forget.

I went to the ceremony in Halifax NS. It was really nice. The prayers were great!
