Runic band tat around my left calf.
I don't like alot of facial piercings, ears are fine, but anything else gives me the urge to attatch a leash! Belly piercings are cute, but some people definately should NOT get them! Other piercings can be fun to play with .... but no thanks on the genital piercings .... there some places metal was not meant to go! I did see a zipper (no teeth fortunatly) once though that made me laugh though!

I don't have anything done except my ears pierced; I used to want to have two holes in each ear but my mum didn't let me and by the time I was old enough to get it done without her permission (well, I could have had it done before then but I was an obedient sort ) I didn't care anymore. I don't mind piercings on other people that aren't extreme - e.g. one eyebrow pierced can look cool, multiple facial piercings looks a bit yuck for my personal tastes. And some things like genital piercings are just plain foolish. I also think teeth piercings are completely stupid - as if you're going to want to have your front tooth pierced for the rest of your life I don't think I would ever get a tattoo, although occasionally I consider it - I think the problem for me is that there's nothing I would really love to have tattooed that I would continue to love for a long time - a flower or a butterfly or something would be cute but I would get bored with it. Plus I would want it in a non-conspicuous position but somewhere that would be visible sometimes, e.g. on my hip, but then you'd have pants that would show half of it or only a bit of it - the logistics are too much trouble . Again I don't mind a couple of tattoos on someone else, but extreme tattooing - like more than 3 or 4, or really conspicuous like forearms, isn't to my taste. I think Robbie Williams looks ridiculous, for example.

Dad told me he'd buy me a dress if I pierced my ear. Nevertheless, I had my aunt (with mother's permission) take a wig pin to my left ear when I was 14 or 15. The hole still remains open, and I sometimes wear a diamond stud in it, but basically I don't wear it 90% of the time anymore -- still like to have the option, though.
Had several ideas for tatoos, but never followed through. I think both piercings and tatoos are fine, so long as they are pretty to me. Too much of anything is too much. Speaking from experience, though my wife is not one, women with tongue studs are GREAT. What I can't get over is the ubiquity of the "small of the back" tats among women. These days, judging from the college chicks I see in my building, finding one WITHOUT a "small-of-back" tat is the difficult chore. Still, I see several hotties with them when I go to the gym. As for plastic surgery, I am all for it. Heck, if it gets good enough on the non-intrusive proceedures, I hope I can get it one day. I think we should make the most of our lives on this planet as we can -- including living healthfully as long as we can and lookings as good as we can. As for shaving, I think it's GREAT for women and okay for men in limited amounts. I pluck the brow to stave off the unibrow. And, for women, shaving "down there" is almost a must for me. My Two Cents. |

At the ripe old age of 44 last summer I got my first tat. It's a kind of celtic style pattern on the upper part of my left arm.
No regrets here See page 42 of Stealthy's for evidence. [ 05-07-2004, 03:08 AM: Message edited by: Mouse ]

I used to have my ears pierced...twice! When I was around 10 I think. They got infected both times though, and after much pain and visits to the doctor I decided to leave it . I look just fine without em.
Tats I like however, if done right. I want 2...I've always loved dragons, so I want to get one, maybe the size of my palm, on my left shoulder or between my shoulder blades. The second would be a V in pretty scripture on my left ankle, standing for Verloren. However, my dad would skin me alive if I got one, and so would my mom. That has to wait until I'm flying full time for FedEx apparently. BS if you ask me *Sigh*

Before my temporary departing from Ironworks, I perceived tattoos as cool. I wanted a dragon, sword or something similar.
During my absence, I decided that a tattoo isn't such a good idea anyway. It can harm the skin, it can eventually become wrinkled and ugly(depending on the location) and it is likely that the image won't keep you thrilled for the rest of your life. However, somewhere near the time of my reappearance, I developed a huge interest towards Japanese animations and culture, supposably for life. I have to admit that at the current time, I would let a nice Anime or Kanji or some such tattoo be installed on my body. I wouldn't let it be made on 'interesting' parts of the body, such as the genital, and I'd do it only after becoming an adult, since it should harm the skin less then. I'm not really sure about what to think about piercing, though. As I once said, Estonia is an extremely 'ordinary' people, so body modifications are quite rare. In fact, I think I know only ***one*** person in my school who has piercings(not including ear piercing by girls)! |

So Estonia's conservative - I think that's the word you're looking for? Well it's kinda good, cos nowadays there's so few conservative people left, that actually, conservative is special, heh.
In Hungary, most of the young people are fashion-freaks, they've always gotta look trendy and they wear/do the craziest things. In contrast, the older people who grew up in Communism tend to be quite conservative. [ 05-07-2004, 09:02 AM: Message edited by: Vaskez ] |

I think that having a conservative country has it's bad side as well - It makes the people feel less at home while staying at other countries and gives us the "No, we're not weird, *you* are!" opinion. But I believe that within the borders of the country, it is a good thing. While it makes the people less eager to express themselves, IMHO, it more or less rather filters out the things that shouldn't be expressed(offensive images, words, etc.). It is possible that the times are changing. Yeah, one of the main reasons why Estonia is so conservative is that it was not until recently, in 1991, that Estonia regained it's freedom from the Soviet Union, and the Estonian economy was in a negative position in the first half of the 1990-s. I guess I'll find out whether or not the country will become more 'global' when I'll become a grumpy old man. |

I had my left ear pierced twice and my right ear once. Took them out about 8 months after meeting my wife. She says that in the Philippines, only gay men have earings. I don't really believe that, but I was getting grief from one of her sisters and unfortunately let it influence me (actually, I took them out mainly because my wife was also hearing about it from her sister all the time and I got tired of having my wife feel she had to defend me)
Both my wife and I have tatoos (interestingly, we got them after I lost the earrings...). She has a butterfly at the base of her spine and I have a wolf howling at the moon on my left forearm. I will get at least one more when I have time and money.
