Did anyone see the Harbour Bridge fireworks?

I just watched them on the TV [img]tongue.gif[/img]

It was nice how the word PEACE came on the bridge after the fireworks. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Just watched the ball fall in Time Square on television! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

I'm off to finish my champagne, cuddle my honey and get some sleep!

An old American tradition is to eat blackeyed peas on New Year's Day to bring good luck. Last year I ate black-eyed peas on New Year's. Within the last week my mother-in-law has had a stroke, my son's car was broken into, my wife has come down with bronchitis, and tonight our heater in the house has broken down. This has led me to formulate 3 hypothesis.
1} the good luck doesn't last for a full year.
2) I would have had a really bad year if I hadn't eaten the black-eyed peas.
3) black-eyed peas don't really bring you good luck.

Plan of Action: Eat a larger portion of black-eyed peas on Newy Years Day. It couldn't hurt.

It's just a way of counting down the last little bit before midnight. A Times Square tradition.

I just finished up my black-eyed peas and collards! No hog jowls this year though; we went with pork roast instead. Throw in some biscuits and cornbread, and I'm full enough to pop...lol.

We haven't eaten yet, due to the late-rising of some of my household members. But, I'm about to go to work on a frittata. With the Black-eyes and turnip greeens aforementioned.

Happy new year, everybody!

Just finished listening to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra's New Years concert. Stayed up a bit later than usual last night to watch the ball drop, but oddly, the new year hasn't changed the rest of my schedule at all.

Never heard of the black-eyed peas thing. Not that I'd eat them anyway, I don't like black-eyed peas.
