I need some help with frames...
On the website I'm creating, the page is split up in three frames. However, as the place has different sections, I can't find a way to go to other sections using links. If anybody understand. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
See here. Try to click the BG2-link in the left frame. Doesn't work, right? Only shows the top frame of that section. This is how it should look like.
So, any advices on how I can fix this problem?

Im a little rusty on framesets, but I seem to recall the answer to this one.

First point, use the URL of the page that should appear in the lower right frame.

Second, use the target="frame" attribute to say which frame it appears in.

Hang on, Il try and dig out the actual &lthref> tag your using. Ick, autogenerated code.

&lta href="http://www.geocities.com/castledaystar/bg2cd.html"> should be

something like:

&lta href="http://www.geocities.com/castledaystar/bg2cd.html" target="main">

I'd say your best bet would be to not use frames at all. They is Tacky.

Try using Tables instead of frames. there easeir to use after you get used to them.

I agree. Nested tables 1) Look better 2) Are more flexable and 3) are only a little harder to code.

BUT, if you want to use frames, make the different page for the bottom right frame only.
Give the bottom right frame a name (by putting a name="name" attribute into the <frame> tag), and use what andrewas said to target it to that frame - the "main" in andrewas' instruction should be the name of that frame in inverted commas. [img]smile.gif[/img]

When I first started out doing my website I tried using frames but I tried and tried for hours but just could not do it, had exactly the same problem as you, in the end I gave up, but now with the help given I may just start up working on ti again [img]smile.gif[/img]

Sio, trust me - Frames do *nothing* that cant be done easier and more flexibly with nested tables.

OK, it might take more time for a raw-coder like myself, but it gets done and it works on more browsers than frames do.

Frames are one thing I generally despise.
They:
- Make it impossible to link directly to one section of your site. Instead you link to the frameset page, and give instructions on what link to use.

- Are hard to code. You have to remember to name them, to target links, to put the right things in the right tags, and *alot* of attributes are necesary.

- Look ugly.

- Don`t work in auto scripters, either. They make hopeless mistakes that a raw coder never would...

- Make your site easy to navigate, because all your links are in one column and that is the same on each page. But then; that can be done with tables, too.

- Aren`t liked by alot of browsers.

- Follow an entirely different coding method. Frames and HTML are almost two different languages, so to switch from one to the other means relearning alot of things very differently.
HTML has more uses.
