McAffee DOES suck. Norton is HOOAH, heaps better.

There are also several free online scanners for you to use. Trendmicro has a rather good one. I snt a friend to it and it found 581 infected files on his machine....... He did the repairs/quarantines/deletions and still had a few that were stored in system restore and once i got him to shut that down, he reran the scan and it came up clean neat and tidy

PLEASE tell me that you've recently logged on to the net and updated your virus checker. If not, using your virus scanner now would be pointless.

MANY worms send themselves out as e-mail without you doing anything (much less knowing) ala the Melissa worm. If you haven't updated your virus software recenetly, "you" may have sent your friends a virus!

P.S. I learned this the hard way. My friend claimed that she was virus-free because she had a virus-scanner loaded on at all times. Did she ever run it? No. When I did, it found 3 viruses. When I logged onto the net and updated the virus scanner, it found 2,320. Yikes!
