From what I have seen Vanguard is a niche-group MMO, very hardcore and pain-stick involving.

Do tell us about LOTR Online, I know you tested it. I have heard good things about it, but does it come close to WoW?

Ok, that's it. I've uninstall the game and threw the cds in the storeroom. Hopefully I can kick WoW out of my system forever. Wish me luck.

Now looking forward to playing back single player games...

Good look Kakero, just keep busy and you'll never even think about 'that game you used to play'

I can totally picture a gamer walking into a dark alley and coming face to face with a mugger.

Criminal: ,,Your money or your life!''

Gamer: ,,I don't have money.. or a life. I'm a WoW-addict!''

Criminal: ,,I'm sorry. I didn't know. Here, take my wallet instead.''

Somehow I have managed to keep my playtime minimal and casual, but I reckon the day I hit 70 and start raiding again, it will be all over

After I hit 70 I burned out and hit a wall pretty quick. I really wanted a Xbox 360, so I put my account up for sale on eBay. I didn't really expect it to sell, but it did and pretty quickly. Within 30 minutes it was bought out, and a couple hours later I was at home playing the 360. I ended up with enough to get a premium system, Dead Rising, and Dead or Alive 4. Months later I sometimes miss not being able to log into my 70, but not enough to regret or get me started playing again.

I played for a bit on my girlfriend's account with some guys at work, but the prospect of doing the same boring content all the way up to 70 again really wasn't appealing. She had already quit playing herself after I sold my account, so after about a month of that I canceled it and haven't looked back. I just did a wipe and reinstall on my PC, so now I don't even have the WoW client installed any more. (First time in over 2 years!) I've since dedicated my gaming time to finishing 360 titles, as well as going back and playing many of the PC and console games that have been sitting and collecting dust since November of '04. (I STILL haven't finished Half-Life 2!)

So there you have it, that's how I did it and so far I have no regrets. I miss all my friends that still play, but I know them all in real life so it's not like I don't get to hang out or talk to them. The way I look at it I got way more than my money's worth, had a blast for most of it, and ended up with an Xbox 360 to boot.

So it would appear, at least for the time being, that my time in the World of Warcraft has finally come to an end. After trying to quit and restarting several times, all I can say is *long sigh* it's about time.
