One more underdark question

In the beholder lair, there is a stairway that doesn't seem to lead anywhere. I'm in ch.6. Is there any point to it, did I miss something, does it come up late,...

I was told that it was a path to another part of the dungeon that was never completed. Probably related to the comments of that figure in the zombie area who runs off, screaming about informing the mayor. It serves no purpose.

If I understand correctly, you're talking about the Beholder Lair in the Underdark right? I don't think that has any relation to the Undead Village in the Unseeing Eye area, but fable is right in that there's no purpose to those stairs.

Well, that's strange, you'd think they would have just gotten rid of it. Most everything else has a reason in the game.

There's more things like that in the game, small parts of quests that weren't implemented in the final version.
