Doing the quest that involves the eyeless cult. My question is, how to kill a beholder? They have a high magic resistance...so which is the best way to take them down, without killing yourself? Anyways, keep finding little quests all over the place. And what is up with Jaheria (sp?) whining? How do you stop that?

Well thanks again

If you are a mage, use a man-at-arms (a warrior), actually, a lot of them work better! Also, your mage can summon others to help him. As for Jaheira, what kind of whining is she doing? That will determine what you should do about it- is she talking about her past life, or is she asking what the hell is taking too long? Makes all the difference in the world

I don't know what level you are at, but I had to do a lot of other quests before I was strong enough to finally kick his ugly eyeball a**! The Shield of Balduran worked and I summoned fire elementals as well, who knocked him down a few pegs before I had everyone charge in! As for Jaheira, she has whiney comments for all occasions. There doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. The only good word I so far have heard from her was when I rescued her from the Harpers Hold. But she is a good NPC, much better than what she was in BGI. Back then she was so weak and pathetic (died all the time) and sniped at her boyfriend Khalid constantly. I'd have gotten rid of her, but if you did Khalid would leave as well, and he was a great NPC, so I was stuck with her. So try to ignore her bossy comments. She can fight and has better hit points this time around in BGII, and can cast a pretty good selection of spells as well. Good luck, Kammy!

She is whining about what is taking so long...what does that mean? Where kind I find this shield? Is it a city item? I don't know about y'all but I am finding some really small quests. Nice xp.

Lady, nice to see another woman on board : )

you need the expansion pack for the shield BUT you can get the cloak of mirroring during the regular game... just equip one fighter with it and go to a beholder's layer then viola... instant level up (believe me)

spoiler:
you can only get the cloak of refelction shield after the spellhold (chap4 i think) going to the underdark (chap5) by ship (its in the sahugen city)

I've found that if you give the somewhat noncomittal responses to Jaheira she eventually kinda shuts up. I dumped her first time around because I couldnt stand her but this time I've been keeping a more "business-like" approach with her and it keeps her whining/babbling down. She's worth keeping, I put the Girdle of Hill Giant strenght on her. My characters 18/88 so its not like I lose much

If Jaheira is whining about taking so long, I think perhaps she is wanting you to do the Harpers Hold quest. I seem to remember her pushing me to finish that quest quite relentlessly. Have you done that yet (located at Docks District I think)?

No, I haven't done the Harpers quest. I don't believe I have that in my quest log. Where do I pick that one up? In the docks?
