I was cruising around the top of Shurugeon lately, and I came upon a really strange occurence.

An amazoni mantrap was breathing poison at the ratkin band outside the walls!!!!!

I don't think this was a result of my actions. Has this happened to anyone before?

Note: I didn't have any summons there and I hadn't cast dementia either (because if a demented worgur attacks one of its own pack, they attack it back, not me! Mwahahahahahahaha!)

Cheers,

Moiraine Sedai

Cool! Seems to me that in some games, some monsters will dislike each other (as well as you). I didn't remember that being in W&W, though...

Now, to start working on some Rattkin pheromone potions for my next trip through...

Neat!!

I don't recall seeing monsters attacking monsters but I have no objections to them doing so!

Maybe others will post their observations of similar attacks!

but moiraine, were the ratkin band getting damaged? coz if they were, then i would say that u are pretty lucky to experience such a thing!
i tink i met something like this before, but it was by accident. in the serpent temple, at the last part where that woman summons out all the priests, they kept casting swarm of flies and venom bite at each other in that narrow passageway juz outside that area......but it's not exactly a monster attacking monster since it was the narrow passageway's fault........

Could this be the result of a bug? I think it is a bit too complex for it to be a bug though..... But I sure as hell aren't complaining!

Are you sure they were not just breathing at you, and the ratlings just happened to be in the way? A lot of monsters' ranged attacks can be turned in one's own favour by placing the party in close proximity of a monster.

I'd have to agree with LiOnHe@rT and bsftcs...but in many other games, you can manipulate your own enemies to attack each other because of their "natural dislike for one another". Could W&W have the same idea?

Well it could be a bug, and if it is, it wouldn't be a very big one. All that's needed is a corrupted line in one of the spell files. There are a few spells that will have this effect, turning monsters to your side that is.

But I have to agree with bsftcs, I think the mantrap was trying to get to you. The poor rattkins were probably in harms way.

AFAIK, there is no mood modification for the monsters in W&W. But I believe the if attacked --> attack! isn't set to your party only. Therefore if a mantrap attacks a worgur, the worgur possibly could react as if the mantrap were a hostile enemy. Not sure about that though. I'm sure Radek will come into this thread and clear things up a bit.
