I do believe this may in fact qualify you for Munchkin status!
*groans* please do not call me that, I lived with that nickname for along time, and my oldest brother still calls me that....

And verily, didst Rafael Vega hastily scribble thusly...

|well...
|What is a munchkin?

Two definitions.

1> A short, strange little being known to reside at one end of the Yellow
Brick Road [tm].

2> someone who tries to get everything possible (and impossible) to make his
'character' the most powerful, unkillable thing on the planet, irrespective
of rules or common sense. The work 'character' is used here, but munchkins
don't have characters, they have sheets with lots of high numbers and no
personality.

The bottom of the evolutionary ladder, the next rung up being the power
gamer. (Where role-playing DOES play a small part)

Well wait a second here. If Stormy can explain from a RP Perspective how her Bard became a RDD who decided to specialise in Rapiers.

If she has a history behind this charcter with a logical explination of the levels and how they relate to her charcter then its all ok. Just because she has a path developed for this charcter doesn't mean she is a munchkin (I to mave made one of those build on the bioware page just for kicks (see Leanna Bella Try explaining that build from a RP perspective LOL))

Thos the Bioware page does off this as an explination for these builds

There is something alluring about Munchkinism. What is Munchkinism you ask? To be a proper Munchkin, you need to be focused on one overwhelming goal: attaining Infinite Cosmic Power. Forget namby-pamby roleplaying. Forget realism. Forget game-balance destroying exploitation of the rules. You want a character so powerful that, in the words of a famous barbarian, "you drive your enemies before you amongst the lamentations of their women". Darn tootin'.

We thought that a section of the Neverwinter Nights Community Site should be devoted to the very best, the very extreme, and the very Munchkinist of character builds that have been carefully crafted by the best to be the best at being the best in the best way. That's right baby. Some do the most damage with one hit, some are the best at firing arrows, and some are the best at resisting attacks. Whatever their particular focus, all would be pretty scary if encountered in a game.
I say if you can justify it from a RP perspective then its all good

I say if you can justify it from a RP perspective then its all good
I don't know if any of you remember my bard/assassin/arcane archer Mebrinde. I had to go into the toolset, and write a book about her history, because it was easier than trying to explain to other players why, when we would encounter Drow in Undermountain, she'd shout, *Why can't you just leave me alone?* She was the closest thing I had to a munchkin, but if any of you can remember her from the local vault days, I rp'd her to the max. I lucked out when I lost my other computer, and had her on a server vault somewhere else, but she was a popular char, and when hordes came out, and killed her, there were some players that mourned her death, to the point where I had to rebuild her. The funny thing is, I initially made up her history on lvl 11, while hiding from all the archers from hell that used to be, may still be, down there. Moral to the story; probably not one, but just because my char can whip your char doesn't mean I'm a munchkin, unless, of course, I am.

I never got into 'power builds' or powergaming. I just like to play for fun. It's one reason I'm picky about who I multiplay with and pretty much only play NWN online at EfU (love the server vault setup!).

I guess I never understood the 'thrill' of demolishing someone else's pc just because I could! LOL I did try another server once way back when EfU was just getting started and still local vault and every time my pc joined the game, someone killed her off. It got really annoying after a dozen or so tries at playing so I never went back there and now I'd take EfU over anyplace that didn't have the same rules and server vault!

Only if you do it before/during the fact. If you do it after the character is built and has been played extensively, you're just reverse engineering/backward justifying your character's munchkinism with a contrived 'history'.

I've looked at those builds myself, and they are obviously pure munchkin. Now, having said that, I'll add that I did start a character that was straight out of those builds, but I only played him for a few hours and got pretty bored. The characters are so one dimensional that they are non-fun. And, considering that the whole point of most of them is to make hard core PvP killers...well, it's no wonder Godisnak lost.

There's nothing wrong with looking at those builds and using them to influence you...I have...Bronwyn, my main character, is based on the Dwarven Wall(with extensive modifiation to skills and feats), and my second character, Talon, is loosely based on the Rogue Archer(again, with extensive modifications to skills and feats). So, as inspiration for a good build, one that will let you survive long enough to be able to RP, they work.

Now, that's not to say that there's anything inherently 'wrong' with using one of the epic builds straight out of the box, as it were. If that's your thing, I say go for it. But if you do, dont even bother making any pretensions to RPing, cuz that's not what those builds are about.

Anyway...that's my on the whole thing.

I'm not asking you to justify your choice Stormy. Just responding to TDC's point about RPing. Like I said in my above post, there's nothing inherently wrong with choosing one of the Epic builds, I was just pointing out that they are pure munchkin, and one dimensional, not roleplay based characters.
