Yup. That's just pathetic. "Water doesn't do anything for me." Why would it have to?! It's water!! It's there to drink, and quench your thirst! How weird some people are...

Yikes! He's got problems!
Ilander, haven't given it up, but I've cut way back to a two cans of diet soda at the office and I drink sparkling water or juice the rest of the day.

I don't really enjoy water myself, not because it 'doesn't do anything' ( ), but because it just has no taste. I drink about a two liter and a half of diet pepsi a day because I've lost my taste for regular. Once you drink diet for so long, regular leaves a bad aftertaste.

When I was working at Blockbuster, I'd gotten into the nasty habit of drinking upwards of 3 or more soft drinks per day. There wasn't much else available. Then I got to feeling guilty about all that sugar and found that Diet Cherry Coke is quite good!
I got to feeling it, though, so started taking filtered water with me to work. I was getting lethargic and feeling achy. I've since read article after article on how the sugar substitute used in sodas can, when the product is allowed to get over a certain temperature (which can happen in storage or even in transit to a store), it turns into something akin to formaldehyde. It can cause all sorts of symptoms - prevalent among them, symptoms of MS. Back pain, aches, fevers, lethargy, stomach problems, heart problems, etc. Well, of *course* it would! You are embalming yourself with the stuff! So...though I *now* drink maybe 3 or 4 12-ounce cans per week, I RARELY have even "regular" sodas anymore. I'd rather juices, water and milk. They guy in question, though, sounds like someone hideously addicted to caffeine and sugar. I feel bad for him. [ 02-09-2005, 12:15 PM: Message edited by: Lady Sedai ] |
