If the guy stopped, whatever the reason, that means he was fortunately not really ready to do it. If it was not this lady, it would have been something else.
Scary though...

You were right about wether an Assault Rifle or a regular rifle is more lethal..it depends on the shooter and not the weapon. As a 5 times Qualified Pistol Sharp Shooter in the Navy, I can say We weren't tested that way We had 5 rounds and 10 seconds to fire them, then reload another 5 rounds and fire them in under 20 seconds (reload and fire) and then were scored on our placements you had to score above a certain number (it was 18 years ago I last qualified so I have forgotten the score). Rifle quals were a bit different but most of the detachments I was stationed with didn't have the necessary ranges for us to qual with Rifle's. The last time I qualified we were allowed to use our personal firearms as long as you used, .45, 9mm or .38....I used my Smith 686 with 6" barrel and scored the highest I ever scored....some of those old 1911 .45's were totally hosed from having so many rounds fired through them. |

john, don't be fatalistic... its just coincidence that two dog lovers happened to be in the same place, even if one had some assault rifles.

That's an interesting story. I've never really heard of an event like that before.
Usually the stories I hear, the person intending to kill actually goes ahead with the plan. Maybe I should take my dogs with me everywhere I go

Just be glad that you have the intellect to notice these sorts of manipulation techniques I'm sure you'll agree there's alot of rhetorical crap involved in news bulletins. You have to put on your spin-filtering spectacles every time you read a newspaper. That's the way infotainment works. No big deal

Or it could simply be the reporter said assault rifle because that is what it was? Are you suggesting that the reporter should compromise his standards of professional accuracy in the interests of dumbing it down for all of us?

Actually no, I wish they would get it right. Most of the time they classify the weapons incorrectly and need to do a bit of research...or generalize but not spit out the wrong info because it has more...Zing to it. And as I said..they are trying to make the issue about emotion and guns not crazy people doing illegal and imoral things. |
