Just using magic skills and no weapons. I suppose it would be real tough at first, but buffing up all those magic skills would be pretty cool. Be this lowly unarmed dude, but if someone messes with me, look out. Like Kwai Chang Kane from the Kung Fu TV show.
While on the subject of magic. What magic effect looks the coolest to you? The magic effects seem rather tame in this game, just wondering.

No weapons, only magic?

Well, I suppose it is possible, but just beware of those little nasty critters known as Daedra who happen to have a high magic resistance (or Breton NPCs for that matter)... they usually turn my ice blade of the monarch into normal claymore, and Azura knows the enchantment is nowhere weak...

Carry a short blade with you, it's better. Even better if the shortblade is Keening )

Yeah magicka can be powerful, but i love enchanting. What would the game be like without stabbing a Daedra with a sword roughly 3 times my size, or taking one of a kind hammers and making Cliff Racers into pancakes. So magicka would get pretty darn boring.

I'm afraid I always turn my Mages into Fighters as well. I love Magic, but I am a 'hit 'em wiv an 'ammer' player. Or sword. Or whatever. I use Magic for distant targets, weapons for melee.

Yeah. Get yourself a nice shortblade. For emergencies. Make sure you get properly trained, too! You only need to use it if you HAVE to.

Magic effects? No, not spectacular, but quite nice. Some are rather pretty!
Greater Fireball isn't bad, and some of the other more powerful destruction spells.
Not like the effects in Black Isle games, though.

If you can levitate NO enemies should be a problem, but if you can't, you're up for a tough game.

Levitation costs a lot of Mana and doesn't lat all that long. Rarely long enough to kill tough opponents. Lots of Levitation or Rising Force potions are better, and don't use up mana you need for destruction spells. You CAN find a staff (Of Magnus, I think) that has Levitate as one of it's functions that you can keep casting - but you have to keep an eye on the levitate icon or you could drop right into the hands of your enemy!

But, yeah - Levitation is cool!

Have you ever heard of the wizard staff ? Levitation 120 seconds, that should be enough time to kill an army with some spells. And there's the boots of the apostle, also levitation. Wear all these items and you'll feel like playing flightsimulator.

I thought THAT was the Staff of Magus? The Levitation one? The Wizard Staff does a couple of other things? I could easily have got them mixed up, though - my chars always get and use both - even my fighter chars.

Actually - a mage type should learn Blunt Instrument, not shortblade. That way they not only have a useful item but a useful weapon once they get whichever staff does the Levitation.
And I have have the Levitate wear off during battle - some of the opponents use 'dispel' to remove the effect!

The Wizard staff is for levitating, i found it to be very usefull when i had to unite the ashlander tribes, all that traveling drove me almost insane. so i went flying.

Useful but VERY SLOW! Do you have a MARK in Balmora so that you can cast RECALL to get back to Caius fast? I do this until it becomes more practical to have a MARK in other places instead.
