I have a problem with my keyboard. It work just fine in the bios and any part that isn't in Windows, but for the last couple of days, every once in a while I'll boot my computer, and once in get to windows I get no input from my keyboard. It's lights are still on and there's power to it, but no matter how much I type nothing happen.

This is especially frustrating because this is a month old install of windows on a new hard drive.

Got any ideas what could be the problem? It seem to fix itself when I replug it and restart the computer, but this really suck.

Check Device manager and see if the keyboard is there and if the correct drivers are installed... and they are not coorupted and there is no conflict with any other device (unlikely though)

Its not a tumah!

Hey...definately I'd agree with Jorath about where to start looking. Don't you have the same keyboard that I do? Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the software for it?

What kind of keyboard? I've had issues with a USB keyboard plugged into a USB hub. Periodically, it stops... but simply unplugging it and replugging it has fixed it. I changed keyboards a while back, and it's stopped happening since then.

So... replacing the keyboard may resolve the problem. Can you swap with someone for a couple of days to prove it out?

It's not an USB keyboard.

Didn't you have a similiar problem with something else not booting up recently? Was it the mouse?

If you're using the PS2 port, check the pins on the plug.
