Once again, deadline looms, still no product.
Once AGAIN! Does anyone else have that inbuilt, inherant instinct to just not do what you know you have to until you have abolsutely no alternative? Do it now or you will NEVER do it! sorta thing. I don't plan ahead. Any distraction is good enough for me. Still have 2 days to write up that essay/report? Well then you've got PLENTY o' time mate... Do it later. Do it later. No really, it's ok. I'll do it later... Well, later has crept up to now. And so I'd better do it. NOW. Anyone else ever find themselves in this position? Deadlines run contradictory to your nature? Need pressure to perform? Good! I'm glad we can be honest with ourselves.

Yes, I'm like that, too. Back when I was in high school, I waited until the night before the deadline at midnight before starting working on my reports.
Often, when I had to do an oral report on a book, I wouldn't even read the book, and spend the night up trying to get something done before going to school. The results were often disastrous. "Well... it's about a guy, and he.... no wait... I think he.. YES! That's it! He was a cop and... (30 secs of description later) and I think that's about it. What? I'm 5 min shorts! Damn!"

It does remind me a bit, yeah.
There are two ways with me: Either I do it directly, and I mean the "NOW, at this moment, drop everything I'm doing" directly. Or I do it tomorrow. Well maybe the day after tomorrow, or the day after that. When was it supposed to be ready? Oh, plenty of time.... There always seems to be somthing better (read: more fun) to do.

I'm very lazy, so I should be a terrible procrastinator. However I'm also a worrier and I fret if I think I'm not going to get something done in time (usually far too early ). So my laziness and almost-dehabilitating worrying cancel each other out.
Plus I like to have an even amount of leisure time all the time, rather than do nothing when I should be working, then have NO time later to play or go out or just chill because I've left work to do which I need about twice as much time as I have left to do it in.

I am the same way, but I'de like to think it isn't laziness for me that makes me a procrastinator. its just my need for a challenge type thing. I can't really can't fully focus on something if there isn't a deadline looming.

one of my greatest procrastination stories was from high school.
My one teacher had a poster in her room that said "I'll procrastinate tommorow." And every day of my senior year I told myself I HAD to steal it, because it was so very very 'me'. Every day I came up with another reason that 'today' wasn't a good day to do it... and the final week of school rolled around, and I kept saying "I'll get it before I graduate, I just can't today cause, ummm, well, whatever, I'll get it tommorow." Well, graduation day came and went, and how many years later I bet that damn poster is still hanging up behind her desk... but it DOES serve as a reminder of just how bad I am at procrastinating. While I was still schooling, I tend to purposely make all my reports or projects in the last minute because if I finish them too early, other people will try to copy all my hard work. it's very annoying when that happen.
