If it stays in the middle of the projected track, it'll miss us completely. Even if it comes our way, once it hits land it'll weaken, and Lakeland (home of IW) is about 100 miles from the Atlantic coast. It'll lose a couple levels of strength by the time the eye reaches us. Could still be a wild ride though...

We ARE inland. Actually, in the center of florida. BUT, a Cat. 5 will still destroy FAR inland...
If it DOES indeed take a direct bead for central florida, we WILL be leaving, and IRONWORKS will be down. (I'll take the server with me ) But the chance of this happening right now, is about 43%. This Hurricane should start heading more north in the next day or so. It sucks, because it'll probably hit SOMEWHERE.. Hope it loses it's punch before it hits land.

From what we've been hearing, there is a fair chance it's coming to visit NC. One of the more probable tracks puts it traveling directly through my county.
The good news is there is a lot of time for the course to change. It would be great if it just stayed out to sea like the last one.

Isn't the water up in the New England area cool enough to sap some of the strength in this beast? Oh yeah, I guess I'm lucky bugger who gets to watch the storm fly over his head. What was Andrew when it hit land? I forget I was where I am, and only caugh Andy's south western edges. Was he a 4 or a 5? or was it high range 3?

Unless a high pressure system developes to turn her, she'll keep on her westward course. Best hope would be a slow moving High pressure system developing over south Florida, and sliding NNE, turning her and keeping her out to sea. Worst would be a stationary high developing over Ga. or SC. and keeping her on a westward course over south Florida and then into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

She will not be a category 5 for more than one day and they don't expect her to hit for at least a few days. Much of it is hype though IMHO, it happend here with hurricane Claudette.
