If you'd tape a slice of bread with butter on the back of a cat and then let him fall...whould he still land on his feets?

Seriously I have to get out more...

yes, because its a cat's reflex to get back to its feet before it hits the ground.

Perhaps the legs would twist around? Or maybe the two things are so mutually exclusive that they refuse to fall together and instead separate? Or don't fall at all?

No, the cat will stop falling two feet off the ground and then continuously revolve.

No, the cat will turn into a floating turtle, and 4 elephants will hold the bread which will turn into a world on their backs, and they'll rest on it's shell.

Perhaps it would spontaneously explode?

(Several men dressed in black suits holding briefcases enter the room, they point and mutter at Malkaviel, they are followed by a man with a beard and black hat). Now on to more serious matters, the cat would never hit the floor because it doesn't exist anymore, in it's place appears a cat/bread hybrid. Now that would land on it's feet though
