yes, kind of, founded in 930 ad, but between 1260 to 1880 (or so) the danish ruled here and the parliament (called Althing) was abolished and all decision were made in denmark. around 1880 the parliament was reinstated and part of the governing body moved to back to Iceland. In 1903 we gained full control of the country and finally 1944 independence from Denmark... due to the Nazi occupation. Iceland is probably the only European country to gain something from the WW2... :/

Oh and Mack, I didn't do much, took my brother to a parade and then just stay at home taking it easy...

60 years of independence for 280000 people, thats pretty impressive eh?
So what are you doing for your Natonal day?

For Canada day I am going to go to drumheller. I have never been to the tyrrell museum. And Sydney is at the age where I think she would get a kick out of it. Anytime she sees a dinasour she makes a big growl.
Good choice, the museum's a lot of fun. Plus, if she misbehaves, there's a very good place for time outs.

Damn I had a strange dream/nightmare tonight. You guys ever heard the phrase "having a bun in the oven" when someone is pregnant...?
Well, I dreamt I was delivering my friends (who is pregnant in real life) baby and when it came out it was all scorched and burned... I know how silly it sounds but damn it was disturbing. I'm never eating a bag of Doritos again before I go to sleep
