Okay so I never did find out what monitor I have (no disks, no manuals - nada) and am still hoping to stumble across a program that would scan it up for me and tell me (although I know It's unlikely since everything thinks It's a plug n play). Anyways I was wondering, is it ok to set my monitor above 60hz even without the driver? When I click 'Hide modes this monitor can't support' up to 80 some hz is still available (It says theese rates are supported). Just double checking .

I know the program you need. Luvian showed it to me...hold on while I find the link to it. It is exactly what you need, and more!

About the monitor rates thing...yes you can take it higher, as long as you have the ones hidden that you cannot access...because Windows is doing the work for you to tell you how high you can go with that monitor. As long as 80 is available with the other unusable ones hidden...then you are safe.

Here you go.

http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32

Download the one that says:

AIDA32 - Personal System Information 3.88 2003-11-26 ZIP (2811 KB) EXE (3090 KB)
(unless there is an international version for Ireland that you see that you want more...I dunno)

It is the at the top, in the middle of those three selections. You will LOVE this program! It tells you EVERYTHING about your system!!!

60hz will give some people a headache if stared at long enough. At least 75 is preferable. You will know if a monitor does not support high refresh rates, as the display will not be readable.

Thanks Larry, doing so now! 60hz makes me go blind after hours of NWN's lol. I need to change it before my eyes go square.

Well, it still detects my monitor as Plug n Play since it has no drivers to read off of but no worries cuz I can just change the refresh rate anyways. This is a great program for ease-of-use as you can update your Bios and chipset directly by clicking on the manufacturers link which is provided by the program itself . Imma keep this!
