Still no demo... Still says Demo Coming in September! However, Gamespot has 6 exciting gameplay movies. Looks prety good! And... sounds like W&W! Literally! They've used all the .wav files from W&W! Listen to the spell waves, the bats, the slimes, the water sounds, the teleport sound, etc. even the PC and NPC voice effects during combat. All sraight from W&W. We'll feel right at home - at least with our eyes closed.

*drools in anticipation*
Hmmm... do you think they left Sebastio in? *edit* I like the way stuff pops out of the chest when you open it... much better than trying to click on that silly ring or amulet, wherever it is. And automatically picking stuff up... priceless Saw a release date of 11/11 for the game... we shall see [ 10-02-2004, 01:22 AM: Message edited by: Bungleau ]

After watching all the video clips I will say that I am hoping the sound effects are simply placeholders before release because after playing W&W dozens of times its going to be down right anoying to hear the exact same set of sounds over and over again in a brand new game. It's one of my pet peives using a sound from another game, but to use the WHOLE set of sounds? Ugh, going to wait for the demo for sure on this one.

I donīt think that these....ehm...simple sounds will be used in an actual game.
Ok, the sounds are o.k. and totally sufficient for W&W, but for Dungeon Lords i expect better sound-effects.

I wonder if DWB and team feel that they put so much sweat into sounds for W&W that got heard by so few people in the end, that they want to use them again for a (hopefully) much larger audience. Waste not!
But I agree... I would like it to sound like a new game; although friendly familiarity is good too...

well at least dungeonlords.com has changed "Demo coming in September" to "Demo coming soon!"
honesty counts for something... There's a discussion about this game going on over at the neighbours' house (Wiz 8 IW board). They seem quite upset by the real-time aspect of the game. Feel it will be to action-like and not enough FRPG-like. I think DWB can do both. I'm eager to see how it turns out! And I hope a particular person's comments over there about people hanging around boards too long did not imply anyone here. That would not be neighbourly!

Well I must admit I also walked away from the videos with the impression that this will be more like a console *Action* RPG game then a tried and true CRPG or even a console RPG. So they might be right on that front, however without playing a demo its hard to say for sure, but again I'll wait for the demo before I decide anything.
P.S. The sounds really do bother me though... :/ |
