As for trainers, perhaps look to HooseNutz's thread here

As for hacking the .lpl file, you are now into the arcane world of hex-editing about which I know zilch

Can't figure out why you would want to hack a game for potions when you could just use the Quest Editor and build youself a quest to repeatedly give yourself all the potions you will ever need...

The true challenge, though, is to play the game to develop your character. I use multiplayer with my single players to advance them faster (since all creatures have 2x HP)

It's not really hard to make a simple quest with QE: simply look at this page, download the Quest Editor and the tutorial, and start reading...

(Really, it's easy! Give it a try )

There is a way to sort of cheat by creating a mule character, buying potions, loading them on the mule and then using the new game and export functions to repeatedly use the potions. If I could remember exactly, I might tell you how to do it, but if you set your mind to it, I'm sure you can work out how to do it for yourself

Or you can simply backup your net.sav file in MP mode and load the same MP game with the same items several times. This can be done to get all your spells to 8 or boost your stats with elixirs. I have to admit I did used this trick to get all my spells to 8 with one of my old chars. But my new one is non-cheaty and he has all his spells to 8 already! Thanks to trading
