Got two requests here.

First, can anyone point me to a website that shows Familiars' statistics according to Alignment? I saw one sometime, but forgot where.

Second, any thoughts on the various Familiars? Coolness factor, critiques, or other comments on overall usefulness?

Thanks.

As far as familiars go, I think it's definitely cool that they implemented them in BG II (along with the spell 'find familiar').

as for their overall usefulness, i'm not quite sure about that. true, each familiar has its own bonus and what not, but i've found that the one time i tried to play a mage w/ a familiar, the novelty wears off after a short while. after that, you're left with a taken-up spot in your inventory....there's only so much use a familiar can be, and it's not much. god forbid even trying to put the little bastard in combat...you shouldn't really need to anyway, and if it dies you lose constitution.

my overall opinion on familiars, i guess, is that its badass they were included in the game, but i don't think they serve a very important purpose at all.

When you start the game, they're allright. They should get some experience of their own, now THAT would make them useful.

As a mage, the extra hitpoints they give you are nice. Plus, it's always nice to see a tiny dragon baby thingy staring up at you outta your back pack.

As for usefulness, I always set my alignment to Chaotic good, because that's my favorite familiar. The Invisibility 10' radius has been extremely helpful to me, expecially early on. It kinda sucks that I'm a Nuetral Good kind of player, but I like the familiar so much, oh well...
